Guidelines for all request types:
- Requestors must be AOFAS members in good standing.
- IRB approval is required when applicable.
- Surveys/projects are limited to those related to orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery/healthcare, and should not include information regarding commercial products.
- Results should be available to AOFAS members by submitting an abstract for presentation at an AOFAS meeting, and manuscript for publication in Foot & Ankle International (FAI) or Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics (FAO).
There is a non-refundable $200 application fee for each study application. For approved AOFAS Research Database (OFAR) Studies, this fee will be applied to the first four hours of data analysis (additional hours will incur a fee of $50/hour).
Study applications for the Research Collaboration Projects (other than those using the AOFAS Research Database OFAR) are reviewed on a rolling basis except during the last quarter of the year. Deadlines are as follows for OFAR requests:
Quarter 1: January 1 through March 31
Deadline: March 31
Committee review by May 30
Quarter 2: April 1 through June 30
Deadline: June 30
Committee review by August 29
Quarter 3: July 1 through September 30
Deadline: September 30
Committee review by November 29
Quarter 4: October 1 through December 31
Deadline: December 31
Committee review by February 28
