  • 2025 RESIDENT SKILLS COURSE APPLICATION


    The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society will award scholarships for orthopaedic residents to attend an AOFAS Resident Skills Course. US and Canadian orthopaedic residents who are PGY1, PGY2, or PGY3 during the 2024-2025 academic year, or a PGY4 who is enrolled in a program that does not have a foot and ankle rotation, and who have an interest in foot and ankle surgery are encouraged to apply.

    This is an opportunity to attend the Resident Skills Lab course, learn more about foot and ankle surgery, and network with leading foot and ankle surgeons.

    Resident Skills Course participants will receive:

    • Registration fees for the Skills Course
    • Breakfast and lunch on the day of the course
    • Complimentary sleeping room on the Friday before the course (must be requested within the application below)
    • $500 travel stipend for Residents (must be requested within the application below)

     

    If selected for the course, AOFAS will cover the cost and handle the course registration and any lodging accommodations. The resident will be responsible for arranging their own travel to the course. If approved for a travel stipend of $500, the funds will be issued by AOFAS to the resident.

  • ELIGIBILITY
    Applicant must be an orthopaedic surgery resident in first, second, third, or in their fourth year and enrolled in a program without a foot and ankle rotation; in a US or Canadian training program; demonstrate enthusiasm for and have a sincere interest in foot and ankle surgery; and be in good academic standing.

     

    Note: The Skills Course Scholarship is a non-transferable, one-time-only opportunity. Residents agree to abide by program terms. Residents can only attend one of the offered courses. If you attended a Resident Skills Course in 2022, 2023, or 2024, you are not eligible able to attend any of these courses, unless a spot remains open closer to the course date.     Application form and supportive material will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the program is full. Incomplete applications will not be considered.


    AOFAS Resident Skills Courses are funded by the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation, supported by grants from industry partners.

  • AOFAS will need all United States residents who plan to receive a stipend to fill out a W9 before we can issue your payment. This requires AOFAS to issue you a Tax Form 1099 in January 2026.

    All Canadian residents will need to fill out a W-8 BEN to receive a stipend.
